Bought this as a laptop for college as I already have a desktop PC at home. If you are like me in this sense, I really recommend getting a chromebook like this one, especially this particular one. The battery is great I usually get about 2 days of use out of it before recharging. The ability to download android apps is very convenient. Some reviews/parts of the description of this laptop mention there being a touchscreen on it but there isn’t. For the price however I was neither expecting a touchscreen, nor do I need a touchscreen so I am content.

Bought it for my son, as like everyone else now he is having to do his school online.
    – looks well built
    – reasonable price
    – slow processor
    – dull screen
    – Chrome OS seems a bit unpolished, no home button to find the apps.
    – dull grey colour, not something to get kids excited about studying or computers for that matter.
    – didn’t come with any of the Google apps like docs, slide, sheets, etc pre installed. You can install them though.
    – I logged in with my son’s Google classroom account from his school, which had a screen monitoring software, which constantly wanted to stay in foreground, even when on holiday and there was no option to kill or disable it as a parent.

Stopped working after 5 months!!! Won’t switch on at all. Started off great. Good battery life and reliable. Then after about 3 months it would shut down by itself or fail to boot up, it would get so far then die. This got gradually worse, happening more frequently. Then one day it just wouldn’t turn on at all! I have used it only a few times a week at most, have a case for it and have been extremely careful with it. There is not orange light when I connect the adapter anymore indicating that it has completely died. Totally unacceptable!

Update! I contacted the HP service team who were very helpful, in the middle of lockdown they sent someone out to collect and fixed it within a few days and sent it back out to me, keeping in constant contact with the progress and collection/delivery times. I can’t fault that after service and in the middle of lockdown too so for that I give it two extra stars from my original review. It’s still working at the moment. Thanks HP credit where it’s due.
